Hi! I’m Ruth.
I am the principal and founder of The Anchor Group Ltd. Having worked in the nonprofit sector since the age of 19, I’ve had the privilege of being involved in incredible organizations, all of which have had one thing in common- a desire to accomplish great things. From volunteerism, to event coordinator, to fundraiser, Associate Director and Executive Director, my career has been dedicated to creating impact in Canada in the nonprofit sector.
Throughout my career, I enabled organizations to grow their effectiveness nationally and locally. Most notably, I successfully grew a national organization from a membership of 25 to 100 in just a few years and trained and mentored hundreds of students to perform at the same level of effectiveness. The truest statement about me is that I love strategy and data. I believe that when organizations evaluate their strategy to align with their core mission and then build in systems by which they can track their success, magic happens. I’ve seen this happen first hand!
In 2022, I took my career in a new direction by moving away from fundraising and leadership into operational development which unlocked a new set of skills for me. It was here, at the Laurentian Leadership Centre (the Ottawa campus of Trinity Western University) that I saw firsthand how operations can disable mission success extremely easily. I learned that it wasn’t just about strategy- it was actually about systems too. It was amazing to watch how aligning operations to mission created new pathways and opportunities, not to mention peace.
In 2024, I switched roles to work as an events coordinator for an organization dear to my heart, the Archdiocese of Ottawa-Cornwall where I learned a whole new avenue of achieving mission success- strategically placed stakeholder events are an incredible way to showcase and develop the mission of an organization.
With a heart for mission and winning, I am delighted to use my skills to help your organization succeed. Success is not only found in the dollars and the number of members, but also in the peace and excitement you carry in doing this good work.
